Rockstar has released two numbered trailers and one Extended Look. Here are the dates, how each one arrived and what counts as official.
Two numbered trailers and one Extended Look
Rockstar has released two numbered GTA 6 trailers: Trailer 1 on 4 December 2023 and Trailer 2 on 6 May 2025. The third major reveal was not a trailer but the Extended Look, a longer presentation that premiered on 27 August 2026. At the time of writing (October 2026), there is no Trailer 3.
All three are on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official GTA VI page, which lists them as Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and An Extended Look. The game itself launches on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Trailer 1: 4 December 2023
In November 2023, Rockstar said in a Newswire post that it would share the first look at the game in early December. The premiere was then set for Tuesday 5 December at 9 am ET on Rockstar's YouTube channel, with a running time of one minute and 31 seconds, according to Tom's Guide.
The trailer never reached that slot. It leaked online on 4 December 2023, and Rockstar released it early the same day. Take-Two also announced the game on 4 December 2023, for release "in 2025" on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Trailer 1 was released only on YouTube. TechRadar reports that it gathered 93 million YouTube views in its first day, and 255 million on YouTube by May 2025.
Trailer 2: 6 May 2025
The second trailer came four days after Take-Two announced the first delay, on 2 May 2025, which moved the game from an expected autumn 2025 launch to 26 May 2026. That date later changed again, to 19 November 2026.
Trailer 2 came with a new plot description that puts both protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, at the centre of a criminal conspiracy. Rockstar said the footage was captured in-game on PlayStation 5 and, according to TechRadar, "comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes".
Unlike Trailer 1, it was posted across several platforms. Rockstar told The Hollywood Reporter that the trailer had over 475 million views across platforms in its first 24 hours, as reported by TechRadar. That is Rockstar's own figure, not an independent count. On YouTube alone, TechRadar put it at 85 million views two days after release.
The Extended Look: 27 August 2026
Rockstar's third big reveal was Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look. It premiered on Netflix on Thursday 27 August 2026 at 3 pm ET, then went up on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 pm ET. Rockstar says it was "Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5", and TechRadar reports Netflix gave it an official runtime of just under half an hour.
It is far longer than either trailer and shows much more gameplay. Our Extended Look recap covers what it showed.
Other official reveals
Not every announcement has come as a video. Between the trailers, Rockstar has used Newswire posts and the GTA VI page for major news:
- 24 June 2026: pre-orders announced, opening at midnight local time on 25 June.
- 17 September 2026: Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album announced, with 34 original tracks and the first six singles released the same day.
- 24 September 2026: the Goodtime State Vice City Collection Collector's Box announced, on pre-order while supplies last.
What does not count as a trailer
This list only includes videos Rockstar released through its own channels. Leaked footage, including the clips that circulated in August 2026, and fan edits are left out. Our article on the GTA 6 leaks covers what outlets reported about the leaked material.
If a new trailer arrives before launch, Rockstar Newswire and Rockstar's YouTube channel will have it first.
