GTA 6 system requirements: what is known

There are no GTA 6 PC system requirements because no PC version is announced. Here is what the console versions need, the storage estimates and what Digital Foundry said about PC.

Are there GTA 6 PC system requirements?

No. Rockstar has not published PC system requirements for GTA 6 because no PC version has been announced. The game launches on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and Rockstar's page says it "Plays Best On PlayStation 5".

Any list of minimum and recommended PC specs you find today, with named graphics cards, processors and RAM, is a guess. None of them comes from Rockstar, and they tend to disagree with each other because each author starts from different assumptions.

What a PC version might demand

The only informed comment on PC hardware so far comes from Digital Foundry's analysis of the August 2026 Extended Look, as reported by TechRadar. It said a PC could allow higher resolutions and benefit from upscalers such as Nvidia DLSS, but that the CPU load of GTA 6's dense world could "make hitting 60fps genuinely challenging in a way we don't often see".

Digital Foundry added that this would "likely require a high-end CPU like a recent Ryzen X3D to avoid bottlenecks." That is an expert reading of console footage, not a requirement, but it suggests the processor will matter more than usual if a PC version arrives.

What the console versions need

On console the question is simpler: you need a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S, and enough free storage. Rockstar's page does not list any hardware requirement beyond the platforms, and it does not give a storage figure.

GTA 6 is listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced, according to HWBusters, but neither Sony nor Rockstar has said what that label means. A standard PS5 is enough to play; the Extended Look itself was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5.

The Xbox Series S is the console people ask about most, because it has less memory and storage than the others. Our Xbox Series S article covers the predictions for it.

Frame rate on console

Rockstar has published no official frame rate. YouTuber Davy Jones said after a preview that Rockstar North's head of development, Rob Nelson, told him the game runs at 30 FPS on console during development, as reported by TechRadar. HWBusters reports a single 30 FPS target with no performance mode and no resolution versus frame rate toggle. Our frame rate article covers this in detail.

How much storage GTA 6 may need

Rockstar has not confirmed the file size, so all figures here are third-party estimates. StealthyGaming estimates a base install of 150 to 180GB on PS5 and Xbox Series X, 110 to 140GB on the Series S with trimmed assets, and a likely day-one patch of 15 to 50GB. It reasons partly from Red Dead Redemption 2, which settled at around 150GB, and advises keeping 200 to 250GB free.

The Spanish site KCH Comunicacion gives a wider range of 100 to 200GB for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, with 100 to 130GB for the base game. The spread between these estimates is the useful takeaway: plan for a large download plus a patch, and replace the estimate with the store figure once it appears.

What is still unconfirmed

  • Any PC version, its release date and its system requirements
  • The download and install size on each console
  • What PS5 Pro Enhanced means for GTA 6
  • Resolution, ray tracing features and any future performance mode

Where to check for updates

Rockstar's GTA VI page and Rockstar Newswire are the official sources. The PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store will show the storage size once the game is ready to download, and digital pre-orders can pre-load from 12 November 2026, so check your free space before then.

If Rockstar announces a PC version, its announcement will include the official requirements. Until then, treat any PC spec sheet as unofficial.
