The Leonida Keys are GTA 6's tropical archipelago and Jason Duval's home turf. Here is what Rockstar says, and who you will meet there.
What the Leonida Keys are
The Leonida Keys are the island region of GTA 6's state of Leonida: a laid-back tropical archipelago of dive bars, boats and dangerous water, modelled on the Florida Keys. It is also where Jason Duval works for local drug runners when we meet him. Rockstar gives the Keys their own page in its 'Only in Leonida' section, alongside Vice City, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.
Rockstar's tagline is 'The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded.' The description reads: 'Life in this tropical archipelago isn't flashy but it's easy. Get your buzz on and pull up a deck chair but look out, you are right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America.'
The Florida Keys parallel
Rockstar does not name Florida, but outlets do. Game Informer calls the region 'a clear parody of the Florida Keys', a beachside tropical paradise 'complete with retirees, casual boating, and sea turtles'. PC Gamer notes that the real Florida Keys sit south of Miami and the Everglades, and assumes the skyline in the distance of one Keys screenshot is Vice City.
GamesRadar says the Keys are known as the 'Gateway to Paradise' and describes boat parties on the bay, a dive bar called The Rusty Anchor, and an underwater world with giant turtles to explore by scuba diving. PC Gamer spotted a shark in one screenshot, which fits Rockstar's warning about the water.
Jason Duval's home turf
Rockstar's profile says Jason grew up around grifters and crooks, and after a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, 'he found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners'. The profile adds: 'It might be time to try something new.' Meeting Lucia Caminos 'could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him'.
Our Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos guides cover the two protagonists in more depth.
The Keys characters
- Brian Heder: 'a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys'. He still moves product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori, and lets Jason live rent-free at one of his properties, as long as he helps with local shakedowns and stops by for Lori's sangria.
- Cal Hampton: Jason's friend and a fellow associate of Brian's. He feels safest at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms with a few beers. Rockstar says 'Cal is at the low tide of America and happy there.'
The Keys in merchandise
The region also features in Rockstar's Vice City Collection, a limited-edition collector's box arriving on 19 November. Two of its 11 items are named after the Keys: a Leonida Keys crossbody bag and a Leonida Keys enamel pin set in a metal tin. Its double-sided souvenir poster shows the Leonida map.
What is still unconfirmed
- The exact position and size of the Keys. Rockstar has not published a detailed map, and PC Gamer's placement south of Vice City is an assumption based on Florida's geography.
- A possible small airport in the Keys. PC Gamer mentions one, but it comes from leaked material, not from Rockstar.
- What you can do there. Scuba diving and boat parties appear in outlet descriptions of Rockstar's screenshots, but Rockstar has not published a list of activities.
Spelling and where to check
The region is Leonida Keys on Rockstar's pages. Some pages call it 'Leonida Quays', which is not Rockstar's name. For anything new about the region, check Rockstar's 'Only in Leonida' pages and Rockstar Newswire. GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
