GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the US. Here is what each includes and how the upgrade route works.

GTA 6 price: $79.99 or $99.99

Grand Theft Auto VI costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the US, according to TechRadar and MP1st. Pre-orders opened at midnight local time on 25 June 2026, and the game launches on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Those are the US prices at the time of writing (October 2026). Prices in other regions differ, so check the figure in your own console store before you pay.

What the Standard Edition includes

The Standard Edition is the full game. Rockstar describes Grand Theft Auto VI as a single player experience, and the Ultimate Edition adds bonus items on top of the same game. Rockstar says pre-orders and purchases made before 20 November get the Vintage Vice City Pack, so a Standard pre-order carries the bonus too.

Digital pre-orders of either edition on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store also include a free month of GTA+, according to Rockstar and MP1st.

  • The base game on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S
  • The Vintage Vice City Pack, for pre-orders and purchases made before 20 November
  • A free month of GTA+, for digital pre-orders

What the Ultimate Edition adds

Rockstar's GTA VI page lists the Ultimate Edition extras. Rockstar says the bonuses are threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter, so you will not have them all on day one.

  • A '95 Grotti Cheetah sports car
  • Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, plus personalised Girardi ES9 (Jason) and Klose K17 (Lucia) pistols
  • Jason's safehouse vehicles: a Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest Kayak
  • Exclusive mods for Jason's Vapid Ganado pickup
  • A '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay
  • A Squalo boat docked at Washington Beach
  • Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon and a Stockyard streetwear shop
  • Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor, with over 50 tattoos designed by FAILE
  • One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop in Lake Leonida
  • A raid on the PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store
  • A project car commission from the collector Wyman
  • A Macca the Gator capsule clothing collection

Upgrading from Standard to Ultimate

An Ultimate Edition Upgrade is reported to cost $20 (MP1st; GTABoom says Xbox lists it at US$20), but Rockstar has not published the price, so check your store. MP1st says Standard buyers can upgrade at any time.

If the reported price holds, starting with Standard and upgrading later costs the same $99.99 in total as buying the Ultimate Edition now. Starting with Standard is a timing choice, not a saving, and it only costs less if you never upgrade. Our article on whether the Ultimate Edition is worth it looks at who gets most from the extras.

Key differences at a glance

  • Price: $79.99 for Standard, $99.99 for Ultimate (US).
  • Game: identical in both editions.
  • Pre-order bonus: the Vintage Vice City Pack, for any pre-order or purchase made before 20 November.
  • Extras: Ultimate adds the vehicles, weapons, shops, garages and cosmetics listed above, unlocked as the story progresses.
  • Upgrade: Standard buyers can move up later, reportedly for $20.
  • Pre-load: from 12 November 2026 for pre-orders of either edition.

Digital or physical at the same price

Both editions are on sale digitally, and the physical version comes as a box holding a download code rather than a disc. Rockstar says the physical version is available from 12 November to support pre-loading, the same day digital pre-orders can start downloading. Our physical copy article covers what the box contains.

The Vice City Collection is not a third edition

The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection is a limited-edition merchandise box, not a game edition. Rockstar's Newswire says the game is sold separately. GameRiv reports a price of $399.99 in the US, five times the Standard Edition, so budget for a game edition first if you want to play.
