What time does GTA 6 unlock?
Rockstar has not announced an unlock time for GTA 6. The game releases on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but at the time of writing (October 2026) there is no Rockstar Newswire post or official page that gives a launch hour or a regional schedule.
The most widely reported answer is midnight local time in each region, based on PlayStation Store data. That is a reasonable expectation, but it is a report, not a Rockstar announcement, so treat any exact time you see as provisional.
What Rockstar has said
The only time-of-day fact Rockstar has published for GTA 6 is about pre-orders, not the launch. Its 24 June 2026 Newswire post said pre-orders would begin at midnight local time on 25 June. The same post says digital pre-orders can pre-load from 12 November, and that the physical version, which contains a download code in the box, is also available from 12 November to support pre-loading.
Pre-loading matters more than the exact hour. If the game is already on your console when it unlocks, you can start playing as soon as the store releases it in your region, rather than waiting for a large download.
The midnight local time reports
On 8 September 2026, the Free Press Journal reported an analysis by the fan site GTAVice.net of regional PlayStation Store data. It lists these unlock times:
- New Zealand: 11:00 UTC on 18 November, which is midnight on 19 November in New Zealand.
- Most of continental Europe: 23:00 UTC on 18 November, which is midnight on 19 November in Central European Time.
- United Kingdom: 00:00 UTC on 19 November, which is midnight in the UK.
- Western Canada: 05:00 UTC on 19 November.
- Mexico and Central America: 06:00 UTC on 19 November, which is midnight in Central Standard Time.
How far to trust them
Most of those store times convert to midnight local time, which is consistent with reports from MP1st and iGeeksBlog that the game unlocks at midnight in each region. One entry does not fit: 05:00 UTC is midnight on the US East Coast, not in Western Canada, so that line is probably mislabelled. The data also comes from the PlayStation Store only. No equivalent Xbox breakdown has been reported.
A different schedule has also circulated. Guru3D wrote on 14 May 2026 that Rockstar had revealed a global unlock schedule, with New Zealand at 7 pm local time on 18 November, the UK at 8 am and the US at 1 pm on launch day. The article does not link to any Rockstar post, and no such post appears on Rockstar Newswire, so it should not be treated as official.
If Rockstar publishes a schedule, it will replace all of these reports. Until then, midnight local time is the best working assumption, not a guarantee.
How to find your own unlock time
- Check Rockstar Newswire and the GTA VI page in the final week. An official schedule would appear there first.
- Open the GTA VI listing in your own console's store, signed in to your own region. The reported times come from regional store data, so your store listing is the closest thing to a primary source for your country.
- If a site gives a time in UTC, convert it to your own zone yourself rather than trusting its local-time column. Remember that UK clocks are on GMT in November, not BST.
- Start the pre-load on 12 November so the unlock time is the only thing you are waiting for.
