GTA 6 release date: what is confirmed

GTA 6 comes out on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Here is what that date covers, how it moved, and what Rockstar has not announced yet.

When does GTA 6 come out?

GTA 6 comes out on Thursday 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games' official GTA VI page gives that date, and Take-Two's investor releases list the same date in the company's lineup of upcoming games.

The date has held since November 2025, and at the time of writing (October 2026) it is six weeks away. No PC version has been announced. Rockstar's page says the game "Plays Best On PlayStation 5", but the 19 November date applies to both consoles.

What is confirmed

• Release date: 19 November 2026.
• Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
• Pre-orders: open since midnight local time on 25 June 2026, according to Rockstar Newswire.
• Pre-loading: digital pre-orders can pre-load from 12 November. The physical version contains a download code in the box and is also available from 12 November, so the game is downloaded either way.
• Pre-order bonus: Rockstar says pre-orders and purchases made before 20 November get the Vintage Vice City Pack, which includes the two-tone '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with a garage by Ocean Beach, outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's palm tree shirt.
• Single player: Rockstar's pre-order announcement says "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience".
• Rating: ESRB Mature, with descriptors for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content and Use of Drugs and Alcohol, plus In-Game Purchases.

Price and editions

TechRadar and MP1st report US prices of $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Prices in other regions vary, so check your own store. An Ultimate Edition Upgrade is reported to cost $20 (MP1st; GTABoom says Xbox lists it at US$20), but Rockstar has not published the price, so check your store.

Two other products share the launch date. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, made with Atlantic Records, has 34 original tracks and is out on 19 November. The Goodtime State Vice City Collection, a limited-edition Collector's Box of merchandise, also arrives on 19 November and does not include the game.

How the date got here

GTA 6 was first announced by Take-Two on 4 December 2023 for release "in 2025". On 2 May 2025, Take-Two said the game, "which was expected to launch in Fall of 2025", was now planned for 26 May 2026. On 6 November 2025, its fiscal second quarter results carried the line "Grand Theft Auto VI now launching November 19, 2026".

Since then, every Take-Two quarterly release has repeated the date. The 7 August 2026 release quotes chief executive Strauss Zelnick on the "excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI". Any article or video that gives a 2025 or May 2026 date is out of date. Our delay history article covers each change in detail.

What is not confirmed

Rockstar has not announced the hour the game unlocks on 19 November. Pre-orders opened at midnight local time, and store data reported by several outlets points to a midnight local unlock, but that is not a Rockstar announcement. Our release time guide explains the reports.

There is also no official file size and no PC release date. Rockstar Newswire is where launch-time details, a file size or any change of date would be announced first, so check it in the final week before launch.

Planning around 19 November

1. Buy by launch day, 19 November, if you want the Vintage Vice City Pack.
2. Start the pre-load on 12 November so the download is finished before launch.
3. Fix the day for any launch night with friends, but leave the start time open until an unlock time is published.
