GTA Birthday Party Ideas

Invites with the birthday kid on the cover, neon colours, a fast food menu straight out of Los Santos and missions instead of party games.

Start with the invitation

The invitation sets the theme before anyone arrives, and the GTA cover is the most recognisable piece of the series. Put the birthday person in every panel, their age where the VI goes, and the party details on the three lines of the logo.

Each line fits up to 16 characters, so keep it tight. A few wordings that fit:

• "grand birthday bash" with the age as the numeral (the Birthday template).
• "leo turns" / "sat 14 june" / "7pm sharp".
• "mission:" / "maya's 30th" / "the hideout".
• "wanted" / "at sam's place" / "from 8pm".

Colours and decorations

Pick one palette and stick to it. The GTA VI look is a sunset: purple, hot pink and orange. Vice City is neon cyan and magenta on black. Los Santos is gold and dark brown. The templates in the poster maker use the same palettes, so the invitation, the poster on the wall and the balloons can match.

• Print the poster large for the wall behind the cake or the drinks table. It becomes the photo spot.
• Print each panel photo as a small card for place settings or a photo string.
• Pink and cyan LED strips or fairy lights do more for a Vice City feel than any printed decoration.
• Inflatable palm trees and a flamingo or two, for the Florida beach look of GTA VI.
• Five-star "wanted level" stars cut from card, stuck on the door or on the cake.

Food and drink

The games are full of fictional fast food chains, and they make an easy menu. Burger Shot for burgers, Cluckin' Bell for chicken wings or nuggets. Print a menu board in the same font as the invitation and serve the food in paper bags or boxes.

For drinks, label bottles and jugs with made-up brand names in the same style. A cake topped with a printed copy of the poster, or a cake in the numeral's gradient colours, ties it together.

Games and activities

• Missions. Hand each guest a sealed mission card on arrival: get a photo with the birthday person, find the hidden item, learn someone's middle name. Points at the end.
• A heist. Hide the presents or a box of sweets and leave a trail of clues. Teams plan the route.
• Wanted level. Anyone caught breaking a silly house rule (saying a banned word, touching their phone) gets a star sticker. Five stars and they do a forfeit.
• A racing game tournament, if there is a console. Any racing game works; it does not have to be GTA.
• Poster booth. Take photos of guests during the party, drop them into a second poster and show it on the TV before everyone leaves.

For younger kids

The games themselves are for adults: the ESRB rates Grand Theft Auto V M for Mature 17+. A party can borrow the look without the content. Use the colours, the logo, the cover layout and the fast food menu, and skip anything violent.
